Franciscan Centre Spiritual Services

As a sponsored ministry of the School Sisters of St. Francis, New Cassel and the Franciscan Centre hold the spiritual aspect of aging in very high regard.

By focusing on the 'whole person' approach, we see in each of our Franciscan Day Centre participants, the desire to incorporate prayer, worship, meditation and other faith-filled activities, into their daily lives and routines.

Catholic Mass is simulcast daily from the New Cassel Chapel, so the participants can participate and feel a part of this worship opportunity.  Eucharistic Ministers assist with the distribution of Holy Communion.

For the participants who are not Catholic, they are welcome to participate in a weekly Inter-Faith worship service, usually held on Mondays.  Local clergy or Deacons preside over this service in the Franciscan Centre.

Two other spiritual services for the participants in the Centre include weekly Bible study on Mondays and sharing group on Wednesdays.  For the Bible study, stimulating discussion is centered around a particular book or passage from the Bible.  For the sharing group, discussion may surround a topic of interest like dealing with change or dealing with loss.

Special prayer services are held for all Franciscan Centre participants during major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

For more information on the opportunities to participate and support the spiritual services at the Franciscan Centre, please call the Centre office and ask for the activity coordinator.
